Rockstar "future platform" projects appear in Ruffian vacancies

CRACKDOWN DEVELOPER LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH EXPERIENCE WITH "MULTIPLAYER ACTION GAME".

The Scottish studio Ruffian Games is working on several games together with Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar.

That is according to new job openings offered by the studio, who are looking for people with "general experience in multiplayer action games developed for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and future platforms."

Ruffian recently completed work porting from Halo Reach to Xbox One and PC with 343 Industries.

The Dundee developer is best known for Crackdown 2 in 2010, as well as additional work on Kinect Star Wars, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Crackdown 3: Wrecking Zone.

Rockstar has recently announced Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC and Stages. However, with the release date for November 5, the company is unlikely to take this title.

Sources recently told VGC that Rockstar New England had suspended the development of Bully 2, but the possible follow-up work could have resumed elsewhere.

In June, Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, said it expects new entries in its major franchises to be released more frequently in the future.

Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived more than eight years after the original game was released and there have been no new Grand Theft Auto or BioShock games since 2013.

Under CEO Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two will continue to implement "rest titles" and a "less, bigger, better strategy" instead of bringing the franchises on an annual basis, he said, but management told GamesIndustry.biz: "I think that eight years is probably too long. "
